Where better to hide booze than down your pants?

University of Arizona Police Department officers were in the area of University Boulevard and Cherry Avenue on Oct. 17 at 4:09 p.m. when they observed a man stuff a clear water bottle containing a brown liquid down the front of his shorts.

Officers advised the man to remove the bottle and dispose of its contents. They also warned him that alcohol was not permitted in Arizona Stadium. The man told police the bottle contained “”Coke.””

According to police, the man’s eyes were bloodshot and the strong odor of marijuana was coming from his mouth as he spoke. The man was identified with a CatCard and he admitted to being 19 years old.

As the man poured the contents of the bottle out, officers noted that it smelled of intoxicants. The man admitted that it contained Captain Morgan and Coca-Cola. He was cited on charges of minor in possession and released on scene.

ZonaZoo points police in the right direction

UAPD officers were on patrol inside Arizona Stadium on Oct. 17 at 5 p.m. when they noticed the strong odor of marijuana coming from the ZonaZoo section. As officers approached the section near Gate 4, several spectators began pointing to a group of four men approximately five rows down.

Officers observed the four men passing a marijuana cigarette between them. Officers walked down to the section and escorted the four men to the upper deck. Officers noted the strong odor of marijuana on all four men, but were unable to recover an amount of the substance.

All four men were escorted to the UAPD command post where they were cited on charges of possession of marijuana. They were released and escorted out of Arizona Stadium and advised not to return.

Police?!  Better down it

UAPD officers were on Highland Avenue on Oct. 18 at 12:34 a.m. when they observed a man who was walking and appeared to be concealing something on his person.

According to police, the man was walking with a group of friends when they noticed him. As they approached, officers watched as the man pulled a can of Keystone Light out of his pocket. He then drank the contents of the can and threw it into the trash.

Officers contacted the man, but before they could even question him, he began to apologize. He admitted to drinking the beer and police cited him on charges of minor in possession and released him on scene.

Intoxicated texting leads to emergency room visit

UAPD officers responded to Coronado Residence Hall on Oct. 18 at 1:10 a.m. in reference to a report of a possible overdose. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a Resident Assistant who told police that Tucson Fire Department emergency medical personnel were treating a woman on the second floor.

TFD personnel stated that they received a report that the girl had taken 27 Advil pills, but when they arrived on scene, she admitted that she had only taken three pills.

According to police, the woman had watery, bloodshot eyes and smelled of intoxicants. The woman admitted to drinking wine that evening but was unable to tell officers how much. She also told police that she “”guessed”” she had texted her friend and told her she had taken more than three pills, but she did not remember.

Officers asked the woman if she had any intention of killing herself and she replied that she did not. TFD transported the woman to University Medical Center for further medical evaluation.

Man cited for marijuana possession, roommate warned for drinking

UAPD officers responded to Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall on Oct. 18 at 2:14 a.m. in reference to a report of the odor of marijuana coming from one of the rooms. Upon arrival, officers met with an RA who led them to a room on the second floor where the strong odor of marijuana could be detected.

Officers knocked on the door and a resident answered. Officers could see the man’s roommate lying on a bed. Officers asked the resident if they could enter the room and he agreed. Inside the room, officers found marijuana residue on his desk and other paraphernalia in his desk drawer.

Police questioned the man’s roommate outside. According to him, the other man occasionally smoked marijuana but he did not. He admitted to drinking that evening and having two beers in the room.

Police cited the first resident on charges of possession of marijuana. The other resident was referred to Residence Life for having alcohol in the room.

Robson Tennis Center broken into

UAPD officers were dispatched to the Robson Tennis Center on Oct. 19 at 6:58 a.m. in reference to a break-in at the building. Upon arrival, officers noticed the door to the tennis court was open and a glass door was shattered. Police entered the building and made sure it was not occupied.

In an alleyway adjacent to the court and Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium, officers found a cart containing tennis balls, a broken television, a hammer, a glove, and a spray bottle of cleaning solution.

Officers recovered the glove and the hammer and placed them into property for fingerprinting. Police have no suspects or witnesses at this time.

Runaway juvenile located in Information Commons

UAPD officers were dispatched to the Information Commons in reference to a suspected runaway juvenile. Upon arrival, officers met with a woman who reported that she had located her brother, who was a runaway juvenile.

Officers received a description of the juvenile and were able to locate him several minutes later. UAPD officers confirmed that the juvenile was a runaway and he was taken into custody. Dispatchers then notified police that Child Protective Services had requested that the juvenile be brought to the office.

Officers transported the youth to the CPS office and released him to the custody of his caseworker.
