The Utah Utes came into Friday nights game with Arizona ranked first in the Pac-12 against the run. Thought two quarters, it doesn’t appear to be a fluke as they lead the Wildcats 13-10 at the half.

Arizona struggled to get any semblance of a run game going in the first two quarters, instead having to rely on the arm of quarterback Brandon Dawkins to lead the way. When the Wildcats did find running room, J.J. Taylor fumbled giving the ball back to Utah at their own 2-yard line.

Utah quarterback Tyler Huntley left the game midway through the second quarter with an apparent shoulder injuries in tears as he headed to the locker room. Backup Troy Williams followed Huntley’s exit by hitting receiver Darren Carrington on a 40-yard pass to set up the Utes for an eventual field goal.

Arizona did have some success from time to time but was unable to string enough plays together to put more points on the board until there were less than three minutes left in the half. That is when Dawkins found receiver Tony Ellison along the sideline for 24 yards which set up a 1-yard touchdown rush by Dawkins and a 13-10 deficit.
