Student Black Holes

Lia Medeiros, a graduate student in astrophysics at the University of Arizona, explains how researchers can study black holes by observing their shadows, which they cast on their surrounding. Medeiros herself has developed a model to determine how the shadows of black holes we observe differ from what we expect based on mathematical models developed from Albert Einstein’s famous theories.
