Head coach Jedd Fisch announced at his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon that he will name the starting quarterback for their upcoming matchup against the University of Oregon after practice on either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Jordan McCloud replaced Will Plummer in the forth quarter of this past Saturday’s game versus NAU. McCloud was 6-for-7 with 66 yards and one touchdown pass in his first appearance as a Wildcat.

“I think it got to the point that it was the right time to make the change to get [McCloud], who had a little bit more experience to get him in the game,” Fisch said.

Plummer completed 19 of 34 passes for a total of 191 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. One of his turnovers resulted in a touchdown for the Lumberjacks late in the second quarter.

“What’s the best way to move forward? You know, we’ve got this week and then a bye week, and then we go eight in a row,” Fisch said. “And can we get to that point when we get to eight [games] in a row that we’re able to go with one guy, let him be the starter throughout the bye week.”

Arizona goes on the road this weekend to play the No. 3 ranked Oregon Ducks in Eugene, Oregon, on Sept. 25, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
