The USC Trojans defeated the Arizona Wildcats by a score of 41-34 at United Airlines Field in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.

Arizona’s losing streak has risen to 20 games dating back to Oct.5, 2019 and now only have four games left to try to get in the win column during Jedd Fisch’s first season as Arizona’s head coach. The good news is they broke their streak of not reaching the 20- point mark which was at 10 games before today’s contest.

While scoring 34 points in this game, it was also the most points scored since Nov.2, 2019 against Oregon state.

For the second straight week, Arizona covered the betting spread while keeping both games close. Today, they were 21.5 point underdogs coming into the game and only ended up losing by 7 points.

Arizona outscored USC 20-6 in the second half, scoring 13 of those points in the forth quarter.

The Wildcats allowed 35 first half points but their defense put up a better showing in the second half while only giving up 157 total yards during that period. Early in the second half, LB Anthony Pandy intercepted a Kedon Slovis pass and returned it for a touchdown. This was the first pick-six by an Arizona player since 2018.

Surprisingly enough, Pandy was also second in rushing for Arizona after carrying the ball for 32 yards on a fake punt attempt by the Wildcats. Arizona finished the game with only 123 total rushing yards as they couldn’t get their rushing attack going throughout the entire game. Jalen John led the team in attempts with nine while totaling 35 yards overall.

Arizona Quarterback Will Plummer finished today’s game completing 20-of-35 passes for a total of 264 yards with a rushing touchdown. Jamarye Joiner added 75 yards and one touchdown pass through the air.

Joiner’s touchdown pass came on the first drive of the game, where we saw WR Tayvian Cunnigham catch a 75-yard pass to put the Wildcats on the board. Cunningham finished the game with 116 yards while leading the team in receiving yards. Stanley Berryhill III led the team in catches for the eighth straight game, after grabbing five catches for a total of 35 yards.

The Arizona Wildcats return home to play the California Golden Bears in Tucson, Arizona on Saturday November 6th where they seek their first victory of the season.
