“”Sharp Dressed Man”” by ZZ Top
This classic song brings out the rock in everyone. Formed four decades ago, ZZ Top is definitely a band your parents have listened to with songs that today’s generation can still appreciate. This song has such a recognizable sound for the fully bearded trio. The electric guitars and steady beat in conjunction with the bluesy vocals give this song a funky rock and roll vibe. The song seems more like a group of friends jamming in a garage, with its share of funky riffs, and drawn out instrumentals. ZZ Top is set to perform at The Desert Diamond Casino’s Diamond Center this Sunday night.
“”Signs”” by Snoop Dogg feat. Justin Timberlake
This song is a blurring of genres. Not only does it feature Snoop Dogg actually singing as well as rapping, but it also has this roller-disco feel to it with all the poppy goodness of Timberlake. This song further demonstrates Snoop’s versatility and it’s also extremely catchy – a dance party must have that will find you bobbing along to the beat. You can experience Snoop Dogg in person with Stephen Marley at the Rialto Theatre this Sunday night.
“”Like You Do”” by Angel Taylor
The swaying acoustic guitar greatly complements Taylor’s warm voice in this blissful, casual and ear-catching love song, comparable to Colbie Caillat’s “”Bubbly.”” Taylor’s music, a blend of pop, reggae, and soul, all brilliantly work together to create a sound that harkens back to Jack Johnson and Adele. Her songs vary from track to track yet, due to her warm vocals, they still maintain the fact that they are Taylor’s. If you enjoy her music be sure to catch her Monday night at Club Congress.
“”Closer”” by The Bigger Lights
With their new album Fiction Fever released in April, TBL have gotten a bigger, more concentrated sound. This track features some funky synth sounds with an All Time Low feeling to it. Lead singer Topher Tally’s vocals strike a chord similar to William Beckett from The Academy Is…. If you like either ATL or The Academy Is…, definitely give this band a listen. This upbeat tune will have you begging for more. You can purchase the band’s EP at Tucson Mall’s Hot Topic and receive a wristband that guarantees you an opportunity to meet the band after its in-store performance this Saturday at 1 p.m.
