Kirk Walters may not have broken any mirrors or seen any black cats lately, but with his luck this year it sure seems like it.
Right when the senior center was working hard to round his way into shape after a preseason bout with the aftereffects of a concussion, he was ruled out indefinitely with Mononucleosis yesterday.
No official timetable has been set for his return, but Walters said he hopes to return “”about December.””
“”It’s kind of frustrating, but I can’t really do much about it,”” he said.
Walters, who entered the season as a possible starter, played just two minutes against Virginia in the season opener Sunday, grabbing one rebound and missing his only field-goal attempt. Last year he averaged 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds per game.
Freshman forward Jordan Hill played 18 minutes, including 13 in the second half, in a role Walters may have occupied.
“”I’m going to help out Jordan,”” Walters said.
