    Hill rakes in another award

LOS ANGELES -ÿArizona men’s basketball player Jordan Hill continues to rake in postseason awards, despite the Wildcats’ postseason purgatory.

Earlier this week, Hill earned first-team all-Pacific 10 Conference honors and was an all-District IX selection.

The junior was named a third-team All-American by The Sports News, making him the 23rd All-American in UA history, the university announced Friday. It marks the second consecutive season that Arizona has had at least one All-America selection.

The 6-foot-10, 235-pound forward was joined on the third-team squad by Florida State’s Toney Douglas, Kansas’ Sherron Collins, Notre Dame’s Luke Harangody and Pittsburgh’s Sam Young.

Hill is averaging 18.5 points, 11 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots per game in 31 appearances. Hill shoots 54.8 percent (234-of-427) from the field and leads the Pac-10 with 18 double-doubles.

The Atlanta, Ga., native was also one of 24 players to be included on the John R. Wooden Award national ballot, which means he is still under consideration for the Wooden Award, given annually to college basketball’s national player of the year, and the 10-member Wooden Award All-America team.

Hill and the rest of the Wildcats will find out Sunday if the team made it into the field of 65 in the NCAA Tournament.
