Sean Miller landed arguably his biggest recruit of the 2009-10 season today: Nic Wise.
Wise, who spent almost two months testing the NBA Draft waters, opted to return as a Wildcat for his senior year.
He becomes Arizona’s most crucial component of continuing the school’s consecutive NCAA Tournament streak to 26 years.
Wise did not hire an agent to maintain his NCAA eligibility.
“”Guess the NBA’s gotta wait,”” Wise wrote on his Twitter page.
The Houston native averaged 15.7 points and 4.6 assists per game last season.
According to his Twitter page, Wise participated in pre-Draft workouts for the Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics, Portland Trailblazers and San Antonio Spurs.
“”We are all very excited with Nic’s return,”” Miller said in a statement. “”His talent, leadership and ability will make him one of the premier players in the Pac-10 this coming season.
“”As important, this puts him in position to leave the University of Arizona with his degree. We are looking forward to a great senior year for Nic.””
Mock NBA Draft projections did not include Wise in this year’s Draft.
