“On the spot: Regina Little, international studies sophomore”

So what are you sitting here on the bench by Centennial Hall for?

I am waiting for my next class at 4 and it didn’t seem worth it to go home.

Have you ever had any scary encounters on campus at night?

No, not really. Just the usual “”Oh, it’s dark out. I should probably hurry and get inside,”” ’cause you know, it’s the U of A.

Do you think there’s enough of those blue light poles that are around?

Um, yeah. I mean they’re always within, like, eyesight I guess. I’ve never actually used them or seen anyone use them, but it’s nice to know that they’re there.

You ever wanna just hit the button, and make sure someone’s on the other line?

    (Laughs)

Never? Okay maybe that’s just me. So what do you study with International Studies?

I study Japan mostly. Their political economy.

What’s the status of the political economy of Japan currently as we speak?

Currently, their economy’s not very good but neither is the U.S.’s.

Who’s the coolest Japanese person you can think of right now?

    Um, probably Matsumoto Jun.

    Oh, who’s that?

    He’s a Japanese pop star.

Do you have a favorite song of his?

Probably, um, it’s called “”Love So Sweet””. They like to use English in their songs and sometimes its really corny, but it’s okay.
