Search for missing brothers to continue today

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – A 22-year-old Matamoros man was pronounced dead after being recovered from the waters off of Isla Blanca Park Wednesday night while his two cousins, a 12-year-old and an 18-year-old, had not been found as of late Thursday.

The search was to resume this morning.

Cameron County authorities said that Ivan Bolado, 22, of Matamoros was found along the jetties Wednesday night, and was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:58 p.m.

More details have emerged as the U.S. Coast Guard actively searched for a 12-year-old boy and his 18-year old brother, who went missing off the shores of Isla Blanca ParkWednesday, officials said.

As of Thursday evening, Coast Guard officials said the brothers had not been found.

Officials at the Cameron County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday afternoon that the two brothers and their cousin, Bolado, were last seen by the jetties before they “”encountered trouble in the water.””

Officials at the Cameron County Sheriff’s Constable’s Office said Bolado entered the water after he saw his two cousins in distress in the water.

Constable’s Office officials have said they believe the three family members are all from Matamoros.

They added that they have identified the missing brothers, but said they would not be releasing their names as of Thursday evening.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Lt. Roxanne Jensen said the search continued Thursday until sunset.

She said a helicopter, three small boats and an auxiliary air craft would continue the search today at dawn.
