Editor’s Note: The Wildcat will be following Abernathy in her quest for a spot on the AVP tour with editions of “”Jen’s Journal”” the day following every episode, starting Monday.

Former Arizona volleyball player Jennifer Abernathy will appear in “”Go Pro or Go Home,”” a reality television show that will be aired on College Sports Television Network on Sunday and Sept. 17 at 5 p.m.

The show invited 16 of the nation’s best senior players from a year ago to compete for a spot on the AVP Crocs Tour Hermosa Beach Open that occurred last June, chronicling the competitors on and off the sand during the time of the event.

The women played in the three-day AVP Invitational Camp that took place last March in Manhattan Beach, Calif., and received instruction from Olympic gold medalists Karch Kiraly and Kerri Walsh.

“”The show was fun because you got to come together and play with a lot of the girls you competed against in high school,”” said Abernathy, an outside hitter.

Ironically, the title of the show is exactly what Abernathy is trying to accomplish, as her overall goal is to become a professional beach volleyball player.

Although she had a great Arizona career playing in the gym, she thinks the transition to sand will be a tough one.

“”It’s two completely different games,”” Abernathy said. “”The only two things they have in common is they both use a volleyball.””
