STILLWATER, Okla. — Arizona wide receiver Juron Criner will miss tonight’s game at No. 9 Oklahoma State after undergoing an appendectomy on Monday, head coach Mike Stoops told ESPN Thursday.
The Wildcats’ No. 1 receiver didn’t travel with the team to Stillwater, Okla., after missing the last two days of practice due to what Stoops called an undisclosed illness.
“Juron’s sick, this is the second day in a row. We hope he’s ready to come back,” Stoops said on Tuesday. “I’m not going to speculate. If he’s ready to go he’ll play. If somebody else is called upon we expect them to do the same things Juron does.”
Criner is said to be week-to-week, but the Wildcats hope the senior receiver, who hauled in six passes for 151 yards and a touchdown against NAU on Saturday, will be back for the start of Pac-12 play against Stanford next Saturday.
Quarterback Nick Foles will turn to Texas transfer Dan Buckner, former walk-on Gino Crump and redshirt sophomore Austin Hill to pick up the slack on the outside in Criner’s absence.
