This year’s spring dresses, blouses, bandeaus and clutch purses prove that orange is not just for Halloween.
It’s time to add a pop of color to your wardrobe, especially because the sunny weather is already rolling in. Shades of coral, pink, peach, tangerine and basically any orange hue will make for a bold and bright fashion statement this spring. Whether it’s a pedicure, a shade of lip gloss or a full-on ensemble, orange is sure to be the color of the season.
Designers such as BCBG Max Azria, Nanette Lepore and Marc by Marc Jacobs all feature orange hues in their spring ready-to-wear collections this year during spring.
Luckily for us, there are also more affordable orange apparel and accessory options. Zoe Boutique on Fourth Avenue and Pitaya on University Boulevard have already placed orange items on display. Pitaya has a whole section devoted to shades of orange and coral-pink.
Lizzie Wise, the manager at Pitaya, said many people have requested coral and orange shades for their spring wardrobes.
“It’s a color that looks good on almost every skin color,” Wise said.
Try any of these styles in an orange hue for the coming season:
See-through you
Springtime in Tucson basically feels like summer, so it’s best to wear loose clothing to stay cool. Tight-fitting outfits can make you feel like it’s much hotter than it actually is, so sheer blouses are a smart alternative to form-fitting tank tops and shirts. Wear a laced bandeau underneath for a stylish touch. For a more conservative look, Wise suggests wearing a tank top underneath instead. Add a pair of high-waist shorts and this look works great for class or going out, she said.
Clutching on
Whether it’s daytime or evening, a brightly colored clutch purse is the perfect way to add a pop of color to a plain outfit.
The chicest choices this season are envelope-style clutch bags with detachable chain straps, or simple button or zip designs. A bag this small deserves a bright neon orange color. Pair it with white pants or a neutral outfit for a tangerine burst.
From short to long
Skirts that are shorter in the front and longer in the back have been making their way into boutiques since the beginning of the year, and you have to be bold to wear them.
This look, whether in skirt or dress form, has a ballerina vibe to it, and looks best as elegant date-night attire. Throw on a pair of pumps and you’re good to go for the night.
