To put it simply, Patrick Wolf is over the top.
Wolf, who is known for his grandeur and intensity, has been in the news recently due to an onstage freak-out. Word spread quickly online — via celebrity gossip sites such as Perez Hilton’s — that Wolf threw a fit on stage during a concert in early August. The British pop-rocker yelled, cussed and threw mic stands about in what he called (via Twitter) an “”expression of anger … (he) will not apologize for.””
Still, the drama of his music is undeniably his own. His newest album, The Bachelor, delivers epic drama and a wide variety of sounds all pulled into one album. Although intended to be a double album, The Bachelor came out as a single disc and is proving itself a musical force to be reckoned with.
From indie rock-inspired tracks like “”Hardtimes,”” to “”Battle,”” which offers something more reminiscent of heavy metal thanks to the use of guitar, Wolf’s sound is an intense blend of many musical genres. Organ and powerful vocals laid on top of synthesized, sterile and cold music all blend into a successfully odd and unique sound.
Wolf later tweeted his apologies for the drama, and, if anything, gained even more attention for his delightfully interesting new album The Bachelor.
