HALFTIME: No. 1 Arizona 41, Northern Arizona 17

After a slow start, Arizona rebounded to take a 41-17 lead over NAU at the half.

The Wildcats trailed 9-7 with 14:12 to go after back-to-back three pointers by NAU junior guard Aaseem Dixon. Lead by junior guard Nick Johnson, the Wildcats took a comfortable lead by halftime.

Johnson led all scorers in the first half with 14 points, including three three-pointers. Johnson’s season high for threes were the four against Texas Tech.

Freshman forward Rondae Hollis-Jefferson – making his second start in a row – had nine points, three rebounds and two assists.

For the second straight game, sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski, who injured his ankle at Michigan, did not start. Tarczewski participated in pregame warm ups, but sat on the bench and has not played.

Arizona led the rebounding battle 15-12.

Seldom used bench players: junior forward Matt Korcheck, senior guard Jordin Mayes and freshman guard Elliott Pitts, all played in the first half.

Arizona shot 50 percent from the field and held the Lumberjacks to 36.8 percent.
