Hang in there, spring break is almost here. If your eyes are starting to bleed from too much homework, take a long nap and then head to a movie theater to relax. This weekend looks to be big for movies, with our old favorites Jim Carrey and Billy Bob Thornton starring in new films.
“”The Number 23″”
Jim Carrey plays Michael Jordan in this kid-friendly biopic. Just kidding. This film, which has nothing to do with MJ and is definitely not kid-friendly, sees Carrey playing the lead role in a suspenseful thriller. Can the jokester pull it off? You decide.
“”Reno 911!:Miami””
Fans of the Comedy Central TV show are sure to love this one. Other people might be turned off by the often-ridiculous antics of these fictional cops. Hopefully, they don’t show too much of their pasty Nevada skin on the Florida beaches.
“”The Astronaut Farmer””
Ah yes, the inspirational family-friendly drama. While most of us college kids were pummeled to death with “”The Mighty Ducks”” and other movies of this type, this one could be cool. Yes, Billy Bob Thornton is a farmer who tries to go to space.
“”The Abandoned””
This one is a good date movie, even though it’s about ghosts and Russian babies. Why? Your new favorite guy or lady might want to hold your hand if the action gets a bit too scary.
“”Purple Rain””
Prince is a man of few words and frilly pants. Go check out his 1984 classic playing tonight and tomorrow night only at The Loft Cinema.
