The Wildcats’ golf team took 5th place in the Arizona Intercollegiate tournament hosted in Tucson at the Vistoso golf club.
With an overall stroke score of 862 the Wildcats finished the tournament at 10 as a team, just behind winner New Mexico, TCU, Cal, and ASU who all posted team scores under par.
Arizona’s top freshman Dylan Healey had the top score for the Cats, finishing even par with a final round score of 72. Other top performers for the Wildcats include Trent Redfern and Juan Pablo Hernandez who both posted scores of 2 for the tournament.
“I think this was as close to a team effort as you can get,” Arizona head coach Jim Anderson said. “Our guys went out there and handled business.”
Anderson said before the Intercollegiate began that “winning at home in front of our fans is a goal we have set for ourselves at the beginning of the year.”
The Cal Bears’ golfers had themselves the best two individual performances of the tournament. Both Joel Stalter and Michael Kim posted scores of -9, Kim with a final round score of 65 to tie his teammate Stalter for the lead.
