Six Arizona football players were named to the 2008 Pacific 10 Conference All-Academic team, conference officials announced Tuesday.
To be eligible for selection to the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or substitute with a significant contribution to the team.
Arizona place kicker Jason Bondzio was the only Wildcat to crack the first team, consisting of 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players and two kickers. The management graduate student carries a 3.72 GPA, the fifth-highest on the team. It was his second consecutive time being named to the All-Academic team.
David Roberts (3.34 GPA, engineering), Chris Gronkowski (3.27, accounting), James Tretheway (3.39, economics) and Corey Hall (3.18, accounting) were all placed on the second team.
Offensive guard Colin Baxter was named an honorable mention.
ASU linebacker Mike Nixon, a political science junior, has the highest GPA of the selected players with a 4.05.
