Current professional and former Wildcat golfer Jim Furyk will donate $85,000 to the UA following his participation in the 2008 Ryder Cup.
The sum is part of the $200,000 the PGA Tour of America is donating to the charities of Furyk’s choice. Of the $85,000, $40,000 will go directly to the school and $45,000 will be used in conjunction with the PGA of America’s Play Golf America University, which is designed to teach and engage students through the instruction of professionals.
The U.S. scored 16.5 points in the cup, with 2.5 coming from Furyk. The team won by five points in total.
Furyk, a member of the UA squad from 1988-92, clinched the win Sunday with a 2 and 1 singles win over Miguel Angel Jimenez.
