A UA student was robbed around 8:20 p.m. Sunday after leaving the Integrated Learning Center, according to the University of Arizona Police Department.
UAPD has not located a suspect, said Sgt. Eugene Mejia, UAPD spokesman.
The student was leaving the ILC when a male approached her, pointed an object to her back and asked for her possessions. After taking them, the man fled.
The student was unable to describe the suspect, and UAPD is relying on tips from the community on suspicious behavior for leads, Mejia said.
“”With the lack of information we rely really heavily on the community to come forward in such cases,”” Mejia said.
There were nine reports of robbery on campus in 2006 and four reports of robbery in 2005, according to UAPD crime statistics.
“”We don’t have a lot of robberies on campus, and I think that a lot of this has to do with awareness efforts,”” said Mejia.
UAPD is urging students to be cautious around campus by walking in well-lit areas, traveling in groups, using SafeRide and by being aware of your surroundings.
