Well, it’s official, Nico Mannion has declared for the NBA Draft according to his Twitter page.
Mannion came to Arizona as one of the top-rated point guards in the entire country last year and throughout the year we saw glimpses of why. From his game-winning shot against Pepperdine to catching fire in the first half against ASU, Mannion showed why he potentially could be a lottery pick.
Mannion finished the year averaging 14 ppg and 5.3 apg. He was the most important player for the Wildcats and they definitely struggled when he wasn’t on the court. He was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team along with the Pac-12 Second team.
Arizona shouldn’t have a problem replacing Mannion as Jemarl Baker Jr., Brandon Williams, Seattle transfer Terrell Brown who is eligible immediately and James Akinjo should he be eligible.
Most mock drafts have Mannion going as a lottery pick with some of them having him going tenth overall to the Phoenix Suns to go play with Deandre Ayton.
