In Jamelle Horne’s first game not starting this season, the UA forward scored a career-high 19 points in 13 rebounds in last Tuesday’s 84-67 win over Kansas.
In retrospect, coming off the bench may have sparked Horne. He earned Pacific 10 Conference Player of the Week honors for the week of Dec. 22-28 with his career-best performance, the Pac-10 announced Monday.
It was Horne’s first career double-double, improving his season average to 8.5 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Horne joins UA forward Jordan Hill as the only two Wildcats (8-3) to earn those honors so far this season.
Hill also played solid against Kansas after scoring a game-high 23 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.
