    How to survive the heat

    1. Drink water throughout the day when temperatures soar. Keep your body hydrated and do not over-exert yourself.
    2. Protect your skin from harmful ultra violet rays. Apply a sunscreen with all-day protection or put on a hat.
    3. Stock up on fruits such as canteloupe, watermelon, grapes, honeydew, mangos and oranges. These will help keep you hydrated.
    4. Stop by the Student Recreation Center and jump in the pool for a refreshing “”after”” activity.
    5. Freeze chunks of cut-up fruit. This frozen fruit is an excellent snack that will help cool down your body. Fruits that freeze well include grapes, watermelon and canteloupe.
    6. Avoid strenous exercise or outdoor work in excessive heat. Don’t overdo it. Give your body a chance to cool itself by relaxing and avoiding direct sunlight.
    7. Wear cool clothing in light colors.
    8. Spend as much time as you can indoors.
