CD Review: V.I.C.’s new album truly is beastly

Hide this one from the family.

Beast, the solo debut from V.I.C., is a compilation of simple, catchy club anthems that will be forgotten as soon as the “”Get Silly”” ringtone expires on your cell phone.

    “”My chain too silly.””

Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, known for the hit single “”Crank That (Soulja Boy),”” teamed with V.I.C. to produce “”Get Silly,”” the silly song with silly lyrics and a silly beat that’s bound to spark some kind of trendy dance move. It’s Soulja Boy with a different name.

    “”My wrist too silly.””

Almost every other track follows suit with basic amateur beats, heavy on the bass. It’s as generic as mainstream hip-hop gets.

    “”I ride too silly.””

However, there is one ray of potential from the young rapper. “”Wobble”” is an old-school groove with a creative beat that stands out so much it sounds like a different artist.

In the end, you’re better off playing Dean Martin in the car with your parents and leaving this album on the dance floor.
