A 26-year-old man has become the 19th suspect to be charged in connection with the gang rape of an 11-year-old girl from Cleveland.

Walter Jamal Harrison of Cleveland saw his photo posted on the Liberty County sheriff’s office “”ten most wanted”” website and turned himself into authorities late Wednesday, officials said. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Because of a gag order that prevents investigators from talking to the news media about the case, officials declined comment on whether more arrests are anticipated.

The sheriff’s department said Harrison was charged with public intoxication in 2006, assault with bodily injury in 2009 and theft in 2010.

The assault of the sixth-grade girl by 19 men and boys — ranging from a middle school student to a 27-year-old man — occurred over a three-month period in Cleveland on at least four dates beginning in September, court records show.

According to a search warrant affidavit, onlookers made videos and still photos of the assaults that went viral around the school district until school authorities were alerted Dec. 1. That also happened to be the last date the girl was sexually assaulted, records showed.

The girl told authorities that one of the suspects had threatened to have some girls “”beat her up”” and not take her home unless she disrobed on the Nov. 28 occasion involving at least eight of the suspects.
