Beer toss

A UA employee reported that Facilities Management Electrical Services building had a vehicle damaged by an unknown person throwing beer bottles near Cherry Avenue and Drachman Street on Sept. 15.

Upon arrival, a University of Arizona Police Department officer made contact with the electrical shop supervisor, who stated that people from a fraternity house struck a vehicle from his shop with beer bottles.

The individuals in the vehicle at the time of the incident said they were returning to the electric shop after the football game when their truck was hit by two beer bottles.

They did not see anyone throw the beer bottles, but they did see several men on top of the house.

A bottle hit the windshield and another hit the hood, leaving two small dents. No one was injured and officers dispatched to the area were unable to locate anyone.

Fight, fight, fight!

A UAPD officer was sent to assist a Tucson Police Department officer who was with a man who was trying to start a fight with a Jets Wildcat store clerk on Sept. 15.

The individual in question had an active UA exclusionary order which prevents him from being on all properties owned or leased by the university.

The officer advised the individual of this order and the individual acknowledged that he understood.

A TPD officer said that Jets Wildcat wanted to press charges for trespassing since he was warned not to return after being caught shoplifting earlier that morning.

The individual was cited and released by the UAPD officer for criminal trespassing for violating the exclusionary order. The TPD officer then arrested him for criminal trespassing and shoplifting.

Cramming the cream

A UA student was cited and released for shoplifting on Sept. 14.
A UAPD officer responded to Highland Market in reference to a duress alarm. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with the loss prevention supervisor, who stated that a man inside the market took an ice cream sandwich out of the freezer box, where it was displayed for sale at $2, and placed it into his left pocket.

The loss prevention supervisor said he watched to see if the individual would pay for the item, and as the individual approached the exit, he confronted him, stating that he needed to pay for the ice cream sandwich.

The individual denied having the sandwich and pulled his phone out of his right pocket. The loss prevention supervisor told the individual he was going to call the police, prompting the individual to walk over to the register and pay for the item. The loss prevention supervisor then returned to work.

The individual proceeded to call him by derogatory terms several times, upon which he was asked to leave the market and not come back. The individual called the loss prevention supervisor another derogatory term and left, only to return minutes later and sit down at a table where he began to talk to other people.

The loss prevention supervisor said as he walked past the table, the individual put his hands in the air and made lunging movements while sitting. The supervisor then told the individual he had to leave for a second time and called UAPD. While he was on the phone with UAPD, the individual left and was unable to be found in the area upon UAPD’s arrival.

The officer located the individual at his dorm, where he claimed he intended to purchase the ice cream. He was informed he was going to be cited and released for shoplifting and he said he understood. A Dean of Students referral was forwarded to the Dean of Students for a code of conduct violation.
