Unfortunately, I have already been affected by this hiring freeze. Of course, I’m a freshman; I’ve never even heard of this “”hiring freeze.”” Last week I put in my two weeks notice to my supervisor when accepting another job opportunity in the Registrar’s Office. Where did that put me when I get an e-mail from my soon-to-be supervisor saying that I may not get hired because of a freeze?
That puts me in the most awkward situation because as a starving student, I need the flexibility and the money! I don’t just speak for myself when I say that. I applied for this office job for the flexibility and the strain of my last job. Also, with the limited federal work study, I need something convenient and able to be flexible with hours. To me, this is crazy to have been put in a limbo accepting my job. It means a lot to me to have been able to even been given this job opportunity in the first place.
