No. 16 Texas poses good test for No. 4 UA women’s swim team

The No. 4 Arizona women’s swim team is set to face off against a familiar opponent at the Hillenbrand Aquatic Center tomorrow at 1 p.m. as it faces the same No. 16 Texas squad it beat in their own competition in Austin seven weeks ago.

This stretch of the season is the most critical part in the Wildcats’ training as they just finished their rigorous winter training program which consisted of three weeks of virtually non-stop intense training sessions. But with only one more weekend of live competition before the Feb. 27 start of the Pacific 10 Conference Swimming Championships in Long Beach, Calif., the Texas meet will provide a good opportunity for swimmers to gauge their progress.

“”Now we have to race basically every single weekend which is great because you get to test your training and you have another opportunity to race and fine tune your skills,”” senior Lacey Nymeyer said. “”Everything (we’ve been doing) is to gear up toward the Pac-10 and NCAA’s, so this meet is kind of like a dress rehearsal for us and it’ll be nice to race against other people.””
