Marching bands from across the state gathered at Arizona Stadium for more than 14 hours on Oct. 21 for the 70th annual University of Arizona Band Day. Forty-five high schools under the Arizona Marching Band Association competed within their respective divisions, which are based on their number of band members. Divisions range from 1A — which includes bands with up to 39 performers — up to 5A — which includes bands with 100 performers or more. Eastmark High School, Cienega High School, Perry High School, Casa Grande Union High School and Basha High School were each awarded first place in their divisions. The Pride of Arizona marching band delivered an exciting performance of its 2023 show featuring the music of Evanescence after divisions 1A and 2A performed, and again at the end of the night.
