A woman was arrested for numerous traffic and alcohol offenses at North Vine Avenue and East Mabel Street at 10:57 p.m. Friday.
An officer observed a green Toyota four-door sedan traveling southbound on North Vine Avenue approaching the stop sign at East Mabel Street. The vehicle ran the stop sign at approximately 5 mph, turning westbound.
The officer was parked at the curb and immediately turned on his emergency lights as the vehicle approached and passed his. He turned around and followed the vehicle one and a half blocks before it pulled to the curb.
The officer made contact with the driver through the open window and told her she ran a stop sign. She said she did not see it.
The officer noticed an odor of intoxicants coming from the vehicle and asked the front passenger for identification. They both said they had not been drinking.
Both of the subjects were underage.
The officer asked the driver to step out and exhale. He smelled an odor of intoxicants on her breath.
Her eyes were red, watery and bloodshot.
When the officer asked if he could take a breath sample, she asked if she could refuse and he said yes. She then refused to provide a breath sample.
She continued to say she had not had anything to drink.
The officer arrested her for being under 21 and driving with alcohol in the body, and put her in handcuffs. She was put into the officer’s patrol car.
The passenger was on the phone with someone and told the person on the phone that the driver had at least a beer.
The driver was cited for a stop sign violation, underage drinking, underage drinking while driving and driving while intoxicated above a blood alcohol content of .08.
The driver was released to her father at 12:42 a.m. at the University of Arizona Police Department station, 1852 E. First St.
An officer saw what appeared to be a burglarized vehicle in UA lot 8106, 1420 E. Seventh St., at 4 a.m. Friday.
He observed a gold Oldsmobile with an open front passenger window. There was glass on the ground.
The dashboard was damaged and the stereo was missing.
The center console was open and items were on the driver’s seat.
The officer found window glass under the vehicle but was unable to retrieve any usable prints.
The officer left a card on the vehicle instructing the owner to contact the UAPD to confirm the theft and provide a list of missing items.
The housemother of Delta Gamma sorority house, 1448 E. First St., reported a suspicious telephone call by an unknown person asking questions about one of her employees at 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The housemother reported that at 11:20 a.m. she received a call from a man who asked her to verify employment information for the housekeeper. The caller said the housekeeper had applied for rental property in Las Vegas.
The housemother said the housekeeper was not looking for rental property in Las Vegas or anywhere else and that she had been a victim of identity theft.
The housekeeper left before an officer arrived.
The officer advised the housemother to tell the housekeeper to contact the Tucson Police Department to report any fraud as a result of the identity theft.
A woman reported receiving several harassing phone calls and text messages from her ex-boyfriend at 8:35 p.m. Friday.
An officer met the woman at her residence, where she showed him 47 text messages and 11 phone calls from the man to her cell phone. All contact was made between 5:45 and 8:35 p.m.
She answered some of the text messages and wrote more than one asking him to leave her alone.
While the officer was with the woman, the man sent three more text messages and called four times.
The officer answered the phone two of the times and told the man not to contact the woman again or he could be arrested for harassment. He told the officer to “”fuck himself”” and said, “”I’m not listening,”” according to reports.
None of the messages made physical threats, but she said she felt extremely harassed. She said she would apply for an injunction against harassment on Monday at court.
