Arizona returns home this weekend to face off against Texas Christian University on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 6 p.m. The Wildcats look to bounce back from its first loss of the season to Santa Clara University, going 1-1 in the California road trip last weekend. They enter this game with a 5-1 record and have allowed just four goals in its six games, all of which were surrendered to Santa Clara last Friday.

TCU also comes to Tucson with a respectable record of 6-2. The TCU Horned Frogs suffered a loss at home to Washington last Sunday but not before rattling off a six-game win streak, including a 1-0 win over Southern Methodist University. 

TCU’s offense is undoubtedly its strong point, as the No. 8 offense has scored 20 goals in eight games and  26 assists. Its attack is spearheaded by the pairing of freshman Gracie Brian and sophomore Messiah Bright. Brian leads the team with 6 goals and contributing to 3 assists, while Bright has scored 5 goals and 4 assists. Midfielders Yazmeen Ryan and Tara Smith lead the team with 5 assists each.

The Wildcats likewise have a talented offense. They have eight different goal-scorers, with forward Brooke Wilson leading the way with 4 goals. Jada Talley has 4 assists, the most of any player on the team, and scored 2 goals, good for second-most on the team.

The battle will certainly be in UA’s backline, as the Horned Frogs will want to deploy its high passing offense to counter the stellar Arizona defense that has put up five clean sheets in its six games.

This will be Arizona’s last chance to pick up a key win before entering a tough conference schedule, which includes hosting USC and UCLA, and traveling to northern California to square off against Stanford.
