Sophomore goaltender Chelsea McIntyre received her first indication that she is fulfilling her duties replacing stud goalie McCall Smith: She was named to Soccer Buzz’s Elite Team of the Week, as well as the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week.
McIntyre had two shutouts in the Four Points Sheraton Classic, which the Wildcats won this past weekend, helping her win the honors.
“”That’s pretty cool,”” McIntyre said after she was informed of the news yesterday at practice.
She said that it was her goal to shut out both Gonzaga and Hawaii this past weekend.
She had five saves against Gonzaga and 11 against Hawaii.
“”She made our team look good,”” UA head coach Dan Tobias said.
Tobias said she has really positioned herself properly and is managing and reading the game well.
Sophomore defender Brianna Caceres said that she had nothing but praise for her goalie.
“”She has been amazing,”” Caceres said. “”I definitely think she has been fulfilling her role.””
