Drunk and disorderly

University of Arizona Police Department officers went to Manzanita-Mohave Residence Hall at 2 a.m. on Saturday in response to a disorderly resident who was not cooperating with resident assistants. The officers met with an RA who said she had been on rounds when she confronted several people who were being loud and playing beer pong inside their room. The RA told the occupants to quiet down and dispose of the alcohol. She returned to the room 15 minutes later to follow up and noticed the door was ajar. The RA opened the door and one of the residents slammed the door, which hit the RA’s arm. An officer knocked on the door of the room and said he needed to speak to them in response to their conduct. A man inside said, “You’re not coming in here without a warrant and I know you’re not going to go get one.” The officers advised them to come out of the room to talk and two men eventually came out. They said they were both residents of the room and the two other people in the room were non-residents. The officers found five or six empty cans of Keystone Light and 15 full cans in the room. One of the men said he had been the one who shut the door on the RA, but said he had not meant to hurt her. He said he shut the door to prevent her from breaking in. He admitted to drinking four beers. A records check on the man revealed that he had an outstanding warrant from UAPD for failure to appear on a narcotics charge. The man was arrested for the warrant, minor in possession of alcohol and disturbing the peace. He yelled at the RA that it was all her fault and that when he “gets raped in prison like last time,” it’s on her. The man was booked into Pima County Jail.

Sleeping in the library

UAPD officers went to the UA Main Library at 1 p.m. on Saturday in response to a man sleeping at a computer terminal. The officers approached the man and woke him up. The officers recognized the man as one who had been warned about trespassing in the library before. The man showed the officer his Missouri identification card and told the officers he did not have anything illegal on him. The officers searched the man and found no contraband. The man was arrested on charges of loitering and was booked into Pima County Jail.

Found keys

A UAPD officer was patrolling the UA Mall at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday when a man approached him with a set of keys he found. He said he found the keys near the BioSciences West building earlier that morning. There were four UA keys on the ring with numbers on them. There were no other identifiable marks on them. The keys were placed into UAPD property and evidence. for safekeeping.
