After Monica Hansen’s professional modeling career came to a close, her natural eye for fashion made an easy transition from a model to a designer. In early 2016, she made her dreams into reality and created Monica Hansen Beachwear.
Hansen and her 2017 swimwear collection will make their first debut in Tucson this weekend at Tucson Fashion Week. Inspired by the ’90s, we are expecting to see a variety of different nude and pastel colors. It will be a blast from the past when models walk onto the runway with Hansen’s bohemian-inspired swimwear. These trendy pieces will be sure to catch the eyes of many women.
“Our suits are a bit more trendy than most, and they are made of all Italian fabric,” said Brandi Young, Hansen’s assistant.
Each piece is manufactured in Italy and is handmade by crochet and specialty laser cut; some even have genuine pearls, lending to the high-end nature of Hansen’s designs.
“It usually takes a few months to go from conception to design,” Young said. “But, inspiration is gathered all year long.”
Although this is her first year at TFW, expectations are high. It is safe to say Hansen won’t be selling anyone short this year on the TFW runway.
“It’s always exciting to present a new collection and [see] how it looks on the models and to actually see the collection coming alive,” Young said.
Hansen and her team are looking forward to the exposure that her swimwear line will reveal to expand their sales into Tucson. As anyone would, Hansen is hoping for positive feedback from the release of her new line.
