Newsworthy
Remember the British pop sensation S Club 7? Apparently one of the members is starving for the limelight and trying to get the band back together. I can only hope that this means they’ll be filming new episodes of their self-titled television show that aired on the Fox Family Channel in 1999. Seven crazy kids working at a motel in Florida? I eat that shit up.
Quoteworthy
“”My publicist is like, ‘stay as far away from that shit as you can,'”” said Nick Carter, explaining how he was advised to keep quiet on the fact that he lost his virginity to Debra Lafave when they were classmates. Lafave is the notorious schoolteacher who slept with her 14-year-old student and was sentenced to three years of house arrest.
Words to read
Although you may not have read his comics, you have probably seen Adrian Tomine’s work without knowing it. He drew the infamous “”Supergirls”” that were featured on Weezer’s posters for their Blue Album. His book “”Sleepwalk: And Other Stories”” includes more of his tantalizing artwork and distinctive writing style. This book features stories about young, angst-ridden individuals, while creating an underlying tone that epitomizes human nature.
Gripe of the week
Mischa Barton was alleged to be the fifth Golden Girl on Teen People’s Web site. Based on photographic evidence of Barton wearing “”Golden Girls-inspired”” attire, she was called one of the monumental women in television history. An overstatement, to say the least, considering Barton lacks the acting abilities to be a pervasive character on “”The Golden Girls.”” Maybe she’s dressing like an old lady because most clothes don’t come in modest sizes – forcing her to improvise. Give a girl a break, but don’t classify her as a Golden Goddess. See for yourself at www.teenpeople.com/teenpeople/gallery/0,22249,1539535_1,00.shtml
