An employee at the UA Main Library, 1510 E. University Blvd., reported seeing a man fondling himself on the third floor at 3:20 p.m. Saturday.

The employee told the officer he was walking around the northwest corner of the third floor when he saw a man talking on his cell phone with his hand down the front of his pants and fondling himself.

The employee said he watched the man for 1-2 minutes before leaving to call police. He said he did not remember any books or personal property on or around the man, and that he did not expose himself to the employee at any time.

Police searched the area but could not find anyone who matched the employee’s description.

A man was arrested for an outstanding warrant, driving on a suspended license, and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia at 3:56 p.m. Friday.

Police were on patrol when they saw the man make a left turn onto East Third Street from North Campbell Avenue, violating the do-not-enter sign that governed the intersection. Police stopped the car one block east and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver told an officer his license was suspended, and a records check showed it had been suspended since November 2002. The check also showed he had an outstanding warrant from the Tucson Police Department for marijuana possession.

The officer handcuffed the man and searched him. He told the officer that there was nothing illegal in the car. The officer opened the trunk of the car and immediately found a clear bag with a green, leafy substance inside, so police searched the rest of the car for more contraband.

Inside a work glove in the trunk the officer found another baggie containing green, leafy substance, and a small glass pipe with burnt marijuana residue inside was found in a shoe in the trunk.

Police found a resident of Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall, 610 N. Highland Ave., lying in the bathroom intoxicated with a cut on the back of his head at 3:46 a.m. Friday.

Police found the resident in the men’s community restroom on the second floor. He was bleeding from the back of his head and told police that when he fell backward in the shower, he hit his head on the wall. Tucson Fire Department officials treated him and took him to University Medical Center, 1501 N. Campbell Ave., for further evaluation.

Police talked to the resident later in the day at UMC, and he told an officer that he had been drinking whiskey at a private residence and that it was his first time drinking alcohol.

The officer diverted the man to the Dean of Students Office for underage drinking.

A woman tried to bargain with a police officer about a potential parking ticket after losing her keys inside the Henry Koffler building, 1340 E. University Blvd., on Thursday.

The woman searched the building’s chemistry lab with the officer for her keys but was unable to locate them. She then asked the officer whether the University of Arizona Police Department could negate any parking ticket she received the next morning because of the situation. The officer said that issue would be up to Parking and Transportation Services to resolve. She added that the officer could prove to them that she lost her keys, and the officer said that one option would be to report the keys missing, which she decided to do.

The officer emphasized that her actions were not the way to get out of a ticket and that PTS has its own rules regarding lost keys reports.

A UA professor contacted police about a disturbing e-mail sent to his university account at 4:56 a.m. Thursday.

Police talked to the professor in his office in the Learning Services building, 1512 E. First St., about an e-mail soliciting the professor to join a child pornography listserv. The professor called police immediately after opening and reading the e-mail.

The e-mail read, “”We want you subscribe child p0rn system,”” offered a “”fre demo”” and said the listserv contained 50 gigabytes of child pornography video and “”100,000+ unique cp photos,”” according to reports.

The professor said that he did not recognize the sender of the message and was unsure why anyone would send him an e-mail of that nature.

Police stopped a bicyclist for riding without a headlamp and found much more inside the man’s pockets at 4:58 a.m. last Tuesday.

The man was stopped at the intersection of East Sixth Street and North Highland Avenue and gave the police officer his Arizona driver’s license. A records check revealed that the man had two outstanding warrants from the Department of Public Safety, one warrant from the Tucson Police Department and one warrant from the South Tucson Police Department.

The man was handcuffed and put into a patrol car. The officer searched the man’s backpack and found two plastic cigar tubes. A yellow tube had a cigar blunt containing green, leafy substance, and a red tube contained another glass tube with burnt residue on the end.

“”That’s my blunt and pipe,”” the man said, according to reports.

The man was also arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
