The Randy Travis concert at Centennial Hall is nearing 2,000 tickets sales, a number that is expected to rise to near-sellout status by showtime Saturday night UA Presents officials said.

The 8 p.m. show sold 1,700 tickets by late afternoon today. A sellout would utilize 2,200 ticket sales.

UA Presents has been largely taking advantage of an e-mail and listserv campaign to publicize the concert, said Mario Di Vetta, marketing associated for UA Presents.

The amount of money made from ticket sales will not be known until after the concert, although the organization is confident the revenue will far outweigh the expenses of the event, he added.

“”This show will make money,”” Divetta said.

Travis’ appearance marks UA Present’s first country music concert, and the 50-year-old Grammy winner will be performing songs from his most recent album, “”Around the Bend.””

Tickets range from $25 to $60 and are currently being sold on the UApresents Web site and at the Centennial Hall box office.

Travis has 22 No. 1 hits to his name, along with six number one albums, five Grammy Awards and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, according to a UApresents press release.
