Police were dispatched to La Paz Residence Hall to pick up a bag of marijuana that was found Thursday.
A resident reported finding a plastic bag containing marijuana in a lobby. The resident walked the officer over to the trash can he had placed on top of the bag so no one would disturb it.
The officer took the bag, which weighed 1.2 grams, and placed it into University of Arizona Police Department property to be destroyed.
Police have no suspects or witnesses.
Three men were arrested for underage drinking in the east parking lot of the Delta Chi fraternity house, 1701 E. First St., on Sept. 12.
Police were dispatched on a call of suspicious activity and upon arrival heard a loud argument involving male voices. There was a large crowd of men in the parking lot, and it appeared that there was a heated verbal dispute in progress.
When officers approached the group, they saw a Foster’s beer can thrown to the ground. The air had a strong odor of intoxicants. The area adjacent to the house had numerous beer cans and bottles on walls and in the parking lot. The cans and bottles had varying amounts of beer inside and were cold to the touch.
Many individuals told officers that everything was OK and that there had been an argument over a girl. While identifying members of the group, the officers noted that three of the men were not 21 years old. All had the strong odor of intoxicants on their breath, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. The men admitted to drinking inside the fraternity house.
They were cited and released at the scene.
Police responded to a phone call from a resident assistant about the smell of burnt marijuana in the S-200 hallway of La Paz Residence Hall, 602 N. Highland Ave., at 9:25 a.m. Sept. 11.
An officer knocked on the door of the suspected room after smelling a strong odor of marijuana around the doorframe. A male answered the door, and police instantly noticed his eyes were red and watery.
The resident allowed police into his room to talk but told the officer that his roommate was in class. The officer asked the resident if there was anything in the room that police should know about, and he said no.
Police asked him if he smoked marijuana in his room or if he had any marijuana in the room and he replied no to both questions.
The resident then opened the bottom-left drawer of his desk and pointed to a green 10-inch plastic smoking pipe that had water in the bottom of it. The officer also saw an empty toilet tissue roll with duct tape wrapped around the outside of it and tissue in one end. Finally, the officer saw several green stems in the bottom of the drawer along with two toothpicks with burnt residue on the end used to clean the pipe.
The resident was cited and released for possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
A man was arrested for defecating in a UA parking lot at 520 N. Euclid Ave. at 12:14 a.m. Sept. 11.
Police observed two men standing in trees near the south side of Lot 5070. As an officer approached them, one of the men went farther into the trees. The man yelled, “”Hurry, the cops are here,”” according to reports.
The officer entered the trees and found the second man sitting and leaning against a tree with his pants around his ankles in the process of defecating.
The other man was handing him napkins, saying, “”Hurry and wipe, we need to get out of here,”” according to reports. The man took the napkins and cleaned himself up.
When asked why he was defecating on UA property, the man replied that he “”had to go real bad and no one would let me use their bathroom. I even asked the kids in that building,”” gesturing toward Coronado Residence Hall, 822 E. Fifth St., according to reports.
“”They said I stunk and needed to take a shower,”” the man added, according to reports. “”They’re a bunch of smartass kids.””
He was cited and released for criminal nuisance after cleaning the area.
