The No. 21 Arizona Gymnastics won their home opener against the Air Force Academy at McKale Center on Jan. 17, sporting in the teams’ new sparkling red leotards, scoring a 196.100. The Falcons posted a final score of 193.450.
Freshman Aubrey Krohnfeldt was awarded Gymnast of the Meet following her confident floor routine that scoured a 9.925.
Vault
Arizona started the night on vault and recorded a 48.825. Sophomore Abigayle Martin posted a strong 9.775. Senior Alysen Fears led the Cats in this rotation posting a 9.850.
Uneven bars
The GymCats posted a 49.050 in the second rotation of the night. Starting off the rotation on a high note, Martin posted a 9.825 on bars. Fifth-year Elena Deets tied her career high of 9.90. Last week Deets was named the Big 12 Gymnastics Specialist of the Week. Fears completed the rotation with a 9.850.
Balance beam
The GymCats scored a 48.850 on the balance beam. Junior Gianna Lenczner and senior Emily Mueller set the tone for the rotation, earning back-to-back 9.825s.
Floor exercise
Closing out the night on the floor, Arizona scored a 49.375, sealing the Wildcats’ victory. Krohnfeldt and Emma Strom both achieved season-highs scoring 9.925s. Martin and Mueller maintained the momentum scoring 9.875s.

The GymCats will travel to Tempe to face ASU in Sun Devil territory on Sunday, Jan. 26 at 3 p.m. to compete in their next meet in Desert Financial Arena.
