Keep the change

A UA student was cited for theft in the Student Union Memorial Center at 2 p.m. on April 16.

A woman had left her wallet in Fast Copy earlier in the day, and upon returning noticed that $159.60 was missing from it.

When a University of Arizona Police Department officer arrived on the scene, another officer was speaking to a suspect. The student admitted to taking all of the money except for the coins. The student then counted the money for police, which only totaled $100.

The student said she had taken the money because she’d received an insufficient funds notice from her bank that morning, which meant she couldn’t access her money. She then offered to allow police to look through her backpack for the rest of the money, but they didn’t find the additional $59.60.

The woman whose money was stolen said she wished to press charges and the student was then cited for theft and referred to the Dean of Students.

Bathroom bandit?

A UA employee reported a missing iPhone from the University Information Technology Services building at 9:42 a.m. on April 18.

UAPD met with the employee, who believed she’d left her phone in a bathroom before going to a meeting. When she returned to her office, she couldn’t find her phone, and upon returning to the restroom, couldn’t find it there either.

She then sent an email to the woman in charge of the building’s lost and found, she had not received a response.

An officer spoke with a co-worker of the woman who had also attended the meeting and been to the bathroom around the same time as the reporting employee. The woman said that when she entered the restroom, she saw a woman exiting the handicap stall with a cigarette that appeared to have been lit. The woman then found a lighter in the toilet and the area smelled of cigarette smoke.

Due to her description, a separate employee was able to identify this woman but was unable to contact her regarding the missing phone.

The location of the phone remains unknown.

‘GREESON’ graffiti marks Graham-Greenlee

Graffiti was reported at Graham-Greenlee Residence Hall at 2:34 p.m. on April 18.

Police met with a community director for the residence hall, who showed an officer green and black spray paint on the side of the dormitory reading “GREESON.”

The vandalism was 16 inches tall and 50 inches wide.

Pictures of the incident were taken and graffiti removal cleaners were notified. There are currently no suspects or witnesses.
