Arizona softball continues its fall exhibition season this weekend by hosting the Fall Round Robin Saturday and Sunday at Hillenbrand Stadium.
The Wildcats will be competing against two Arizona junior colleges in Eastern Arizona and Scottsdale Community College as well as Division II Fort Lewis College from Durango, Colo.
Things get started for the Wildcats on Saturday when they take on Eastern Arizona at 3 p.m. followed by their tilt with Fort Lewis at 5 p.m.
Arizona wraps up the Fall Round Robin Sunday afternoon against Scottsdale Community College with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
The UA is coming off a five-game Arizona Fall Invitational tournament that saw the Wildcats easily go undefeated against their junior college competition, outscoring their opponents 63-6. As a team, Arizona hit .517 during the tournament and dominated on the mound with three shutouts and one no-hitter thrown.
In the batter’s box, junior catcher Chelsea Goodacre looked like she did much of last season when she was an all-Pac-12 first team selection. Goodacre finished the Invitational hitting .867 with eight homeruns and 24 RBIs in only 15 at-bats.
Senior pitcher Kenzie Fowler, who missed all of the 2013 season after back surgery, made her return to the mound pitching in eight innings over the course of two games with 12 strikeouts and two runs surrendered.
Fall exhibition season ends next month with the annual Arizona Alumni Game on November 10 at noon.
